Yeah, [Music] [Music] [Music] children. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] vote and what you [Music] love. You can’t argue with the law. Initially wash it on pizza. [Music] We’re here with coach Ziko Cornell from team Brexo. Coach, a tough break last night. You were playing very well against uh the defending champions right at the beginning. What happened? Uniqaha is a really good team. So, uh you’re going to play another real physical team uh today uh that gave Unaha a really hard time last time. Uh any other change in plans knowing that you’re going to be playing somebody that is big and strong inside? I mean, Alahi and Unikah are very contrasting teams. So, it’s probably not a very comp comparative game. The most important thing is that we bring our strengths and hopefully our strengths are enough to overwhelm their strengths. We can’t do so much about the the height of the players. I’m not a geneticist and can’t modify this. So, can we bring our strengths to overwhelm what they do well? Thanks a lot, coach, and good luck tonight. You’re welcome. Thank you very much. Thank you very much. [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] Welcome to Singapore. Access to the norththeast entrance are located at level. You are encouraged to enter. Please [Applause] beverage. Coach Urkandonnani from Alahi. Coach, tough break last game. You guys were right there until the end of the first half, only down by seven. What happened? Uh, regarding the game of Malaga, I think we are very satisfied to play against such a great team in Europe. So we try to compete the 40 minutes and end of the game it was just double digits 12 points. I think we can last two minutes if we can play more aggressiveness we can make it like a single digits but all the way to play against such a great team is very okay for us. Now you were very physical in that game that was the right combination for you. You’re really frustrated one of the best teams if not the best team in the tournament. Is that going to be your same strategy for this team? Yeah we have to be very physical. 40 minutes we are playing in the ICC World Cup. So, we have to be ready and I think the the players are ready to play 40 minutes. Very aggressive on the floor on both ends, offensively and defensively. Coach, thank you very much. I know you want to get out there. Thanks for everything. Thank you for your time. Thank you. [Music] Well, good evening everybody. Welcome back to the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Ali taking on Utson Bricks here in the FIA Intercontinental Cup game day three group A. And uh this thing shaping up. Of course, we already know the Unikah Malaga have clinched first place in the group. Earlier today, NBA GLeague United winning 194 over Ilawara Hawks. So, it’ll be Una taking on NBA GLeague United uh in the battle for uh the FIFA Intercontinental Cup and Ali and Rex losing their first couple of games. So, this is the battle for second place and the winner of this game will play for third place tomorrow. I’m Jeff Taylor joined by Josh Bett and you know it’s a great occasion Josh. We’ve really enjoyed our time in Singapore. Uh we haven’t had any Singapore slings but nevertheless we had some hining chicken and we’ve watched some really good basketball. And uh to me what’s really gratifying this season is that it really feels like the competition level has gone up uh from the different continents and I love seeing some of these fans traveling especially from Brex to come and support their team. They absolutely have a connection to this team. Well, you said it perfectly Jeff. We’re getting the best from every continent. Right now we have the best of BCL Asia versus the best of the BAL. And of course in Breck’s case you know they were up against a very good team. You heard what Ziko Corell said, Ulica Malaga. There’s a reason they are two time defending champions of the BCL now looking to defend a FIA Intercontinental Cup. But now it’s a new test. Of course, it’s a day’s rest here for Alati, but Brex, no doubt they’ll play to the end. They’ll make this a very competitive game nonetheless. Jeeoff, I’m a little bit surprised that Ziko is not a geneticist, though. I thought he kind of had that as one of his strings to his bow, but clearly you coach with who you’ve got and you have to devise a game plan. And I didn’t I don’t think he wanted to give too much away in the pregame interview. So that’s fine. But uh at the end of the day, I think Brooks did very well to stay with Unaha in that first half. And what you know what happened in that game? Well, I’ll tell you what happened. They played a great team. You know, they played a team that’s going to get even better as the season goes on. And I personally thought that game would be over much sooner than it was. So Drex did a great job playing for the half, but without say Isaac Fu um and maybe taking on Inaha for the first time, that that is not a a good way to start your FIA Intercontinental Cup. I mean, look, at the end of the day, it’s probably the first time here, well, it is the first time indeed, in which a champion from the BCL Asia goes up against, or champion from the B League, I should say, specifically goes up against a champion not only of the of the BCL Europe, but also one of the perennial teams of the Spanish AC winners. Exactly. Yeah. So, you know, a tournament like this, it’s about knowing where each of your federations are, where your teams stand. And it’s great to, you know, look back, reflect, and learn on things. And one thing, Jeff, we have seen for many years, we’ve seen specifically in the last season, go back to Brex’s opening game in the B- League season last year. They got blown out twice by Chiba Jets. Nobody put them in the bag to be champions. But one thing about them, they adapt. They come back. They find a way. And as you said, Jeff, they battled to the end. They did battle to the end, but I think there was a noticeable difference in terms of bench. That was something that I think we kind of highlighted at the start of the game. And when you have the quality coming off the bench that they had coming off the bench, Unikaha compared to Brex, I thought it was pretty notice noticeable by the end of the game. And again, you know, we said this before the last game, the Spanish League, the ABE, which is obviously well known around the world and I think kind of widely accepted to be the top league in Europe and maybe the the second best league outside of the USA. So, and I got to build on that, Jeff. We obviously know the NBA is a world of its own. I mean, it’s the it’s the the league of all leagues. But then again, if you want to look at the international world of basketball, you nailed it right there. Spanish League and Das is probably number one. It’s up there. You got other great leagues in Europe. You got great leagues in the west of Asia. And also, the B- League probably represents one of the best, if not the very best in the Eastern region. But like I said with Brex, you know, this team, everything runs through DJ Nouville. After that, you want to go to Grant Jared and then Makoto Hajima as best as you can. But they’re going to need other players to pitch in, step up, and make some big moments. We saw this in Dubai at the BC Asia. They’ve all got to be collective if they want to get a victory tonight. And we actually saw it yesterday in the first half. You know, other guys were stepping up. Maybe Gavin Edwards didn’t do it as much from a scoring standpoint early on. But they did have other guys stepping up and that’s probably why they were able to keep it. But then when you start talking about going players six through 10, you know, guys come off the bench, there was just a noticeable difference. But anyway, we’ll pipe down and get ready for the player introductions. [Applause] Hey, I see how you do under pressure. I see how you do under pressure. A moment can live on. Ladies and gentlemen, FEMA Intercontinental Cup 2025, it’s Al a Tripoli taking on Nomia Rex. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Applause] Introducing first from Japan. Okay, so we’re going to see Rex and their players introduced here. Hi Watanabi. So Hanori Watsanabi, the cap the captain of this team. He came in late yesterday. and Makohima of course very well known longtime Spanish national team player and also a B-League MVP in his time [Applause] Takiuchi excuse me Yusuke Indochi you know not not not to uh pick too many holes in the game of Indo but he needs to hit those shots that he was getting early on that he didn’t make Takiuchi you got to really like the He’s continued to perform at his age. Blake Aayuki coming out. How about Shinji Takashima? He was terrific yesterday in the first half. He’s three and D. He’s come a long way since joining them in 2022. Remember, they had the best record that season, but the thing for him, a good three-point shooter, but relentlessly he’ll pick up anybody fullcourt man-to-man defense. And another one with uh another one that you would want to get a little bit more than what you got would be Iuga. And you know, you’re not looking for him to come out and score 20 points, but you want him to come out and make some plays. This guy really can’t do much more than than what he did yesterday. I thought he was really good. Well, Jee, there was a reason that they made sure they got him signing for from Osaka Vas. Also, you look at the likes of Gavin Edwards. They got him only two seasons ago after having that really good season with Shiva Jets under head coach John Patrick. But going back to Si Ikaruga, he is a backup point guy, but I agree with you, he’s got to be able to deliver the same here at the FIA IC as he did at the BCL Asia in Dubai. And of course, we saw Grant Jer come out. Fantastic. Um I think player really has I think grown in stature in the short time that he’s been in the B- league and is one of their main triumphirative players. I think that has to has to shine. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] and their opponents from last number. So now Alahi coming out from Libya, the BAL winners and really in my opinion surpassed expectations for me on opening night. They were really competitive and made Unaha really work in that game. Bad Rush comes out plays for Libya. You saw him at the afro basket. Sean Jacquesy, you also saw him at the Afro Basket. Well, Jeff, I was just about to say that this is a FIA Afrobasket dream team. Jeanja Badrush, Elgadani, head coach of Egypt. And of course, we’re going to see him very, very soon. The man who I said is the number one point forward on the continent of Africa. Cabo Verde’s Ivan Almeida. There is Almeida, one of those born to thrill players. And obviously watching him and Joel play Joel Anthony, excuse me, Joel Almeida. Um, just fantastic for so long. The Blue Sharks. How about this guy? He was sensational Romero and has kind of I think really kind of developed his game offensively the last few years. Dalo tough as nails. Well, going back to this man Jeff is Romero. I remember back in the 2023 Bara World Cup for Puerto Rico that opening game against South Sudan. He’s a game changer. He runs the floor. But I think for sure one thing they can get a lot more out of him. get him more looks off of pick and rolls inside the paint or even simple post ups back to the basket. The double block. [Applause] So Al AI are on the court along with Brex and we’re about four minutes away from tipping things off in a minute. We’ll also get a look at the starting fives again in the rosters and interesting uh perhaps chess match ahead as well from the coaches how they’re going to make their moves and also a good refereeing group tonight. Luis Castillo from Spain, the crew chief. James Regal from Australia on the left and Yan Bezo Davidson from Madagascar on the right. And of course, those two referees of course coming from Madagascar and Australia, they were with us at the Afro Basket. So, like I said, the referees and players will be, you know, very familiar with each other. But Jeff, looking at this starting lineup, I mean the key thing you got to understand DJ Newville is probably going to play plus 30 minutes this evening for the Brexima, Takashima, Nouville Edwards and Jared in the starting five. Indo coming off the bench [Applause] and Ziko Cornell [Applause] remember took over the job in mid-season following the passing of his good friend Kevin Brazwell. And here is Grant Jarrett who 60 points, five rebounds against Unaha. And obviously in his fourth season with Rex, he is a he’s a powerhouse in the B league. [Applause] And starting five for the team from Libya Maker Jean Jean Gorsi Nasim Bat Rush Ivan Omea and is Romero with Bella Big Knights actually Ben Aage Abu Fararda everybody else. Let’s see what the Egyptian coach can get out of his team tonight. Well Jeff, I think one thing he’s got to be aware of tonight after that opening game. We can talk about the positives as much as possible against Kaha, but with Bad Rush, Jean Jaci, and Ivan Ma, you’ve got to make a conscious decision to decide who is going to be your primary ball handler and facilitator in the back court. [Applause] 20 points against Unikaha and led BCL Americas in points in 2023 and rebounds in 2022. And really I not one thing I noticed after the game the other night the coaches that went up to speak to Romero. They were very impressed. And I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up in Spain one day. Well, he’s played all over the globe. I mean last season he played a little bit in the Korean basketball league. Now he’s obviously here in or with the champions of the BL from Libya. So I mean he’s a a professional journeyman. I mean that with the most respect because he’s always going to be in demand for any team that needs a player of his capability at his position. That’s right. And we’re all on a journey, Josh. We’re all on a basketball journey. Some of us have many more places that we visit. Certainly, you’re on a basketball journey, living in Asia now, but no doubt eventually going back to uh Europe at some point. And big game for Brex. And I really think that Yeah. And again, I I just want to revisit that point to see this uh all this love, this connection from Brex for their team here. I mean, they have traveled in huge numbers everywhere you look in the stands. You see people wearing not just yellow, you see them wearing Brex jerseys. It’s impressive stuff. Well, Jeff, my first ever be league game, we started the same season back in 2020 21. It was UTSA Brex. They’d go on to the finals that years to lose to Chiba. But in 2023 actually had the opportunity to go to Japan and compensate Brexit their arena. You know Tojiki that is the prefecture. Utamia is the city and it is a basketball city. It’s famous for Gyoza course very delicious Japanese food but it’s a basketball team created just after 2004. And my word have they done a magnificent job in building what we can see around us as the Brex Nation. Well, speaking of gyos, is that a dish a dish best served cold or hot? Generally, I probably recommend you have it warm, of course. Hot, but you know, I mean, some people have it cold, of course, but anyone’s like at the end of the day. It’s good to hear about your culinary tastes. So, are they coming out getting ready to trade blows with Rex, a battle of Africa against Asia, a battle of Japan against Libya. Although this team has a multitude of players, well, shall we say several players from places outside Libya. Jeff, one area I do feel that Lley will have an advantage, of course, is the bigs being able to draw the likes of Gavin Edwards and Grant Jerich to the perimeter. I mean, as great as they are, they were fantastic in the B- League last season. They’re not always the most sophisticated at defending players their size on the perimeter. Romero is going to be a handle for them for sure. It’s game time. Well, good evening everybody. We’re underway here. The last game of the group phase at the FIA Intercontinental Tropia Brex taking on Ali from Libya. And [Music] it is Alley getting the opening rebound. And there’s a follow from Romero. Just let me put my stamp on this game from the beginning. The big fella, Jeff, what did I say right from the get- go? There is an advantage athletes got to going to have. You got to put a body on him. Whether it’s Grunt, Jared, or Gavin Edwards, you cannot be afraid to go out and compete against number 28 or he’s going to eat you alive. But if you’re Romero as well, you need to not get yourself in foul trouble because they need him. Oh, for sure. And that’s probably the other advantage Brex will have. I mean, look at Gran Edwards and Grant Jarrett. They’re actually three-point threats. I said this the other night that every player on this team is a three-point threat for the Brex. Well, speaking of three-point threats and stroking it, the great one, the 2018 BL League MVP would be Kawas Seahorses. [Music] Bad Rush took it in and it gets into Romero again and Romero says, “Jet get it to me. I’m going to go to the rats.” Kevin Edwards cannot get caught ball watching. You got him to see where Bull is, see where man is. DJ Nugville shaking and faking gets it out to Grant Sher and Ivan Almeida with the rebound and he’s fouled in the back court by Hojima. Remember Brex did play last night against and there again Jeff. Have a look at this. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Davos has it blocked. Here comes Nouville and Takima [Music] miss here at the start. Almeida takes it deep. Now, can they finally stop Romero? And Mugo does knock it out of his hands as he makes his move. That’s two turnovers forced by Brex, but now they’ve got to be able to convert something here down the other end. Drifts in, gets it back to Jer. Goes off his fingertips. Nice bounce pass to Edwards and he gets blocked by Baker. Van Rush from downtown. He misses. So, a lot of three-pointers in transition for both teams. Both teams have got to be able to read the defense a bit better. Here’s Edwards. Count it. That’s much more like it. And that is the advantage that he has on Romero. He’ll be able to stretch that D. Like you said, Eim has got one. You don’t want to pick up too early. You need him in the game. Oh. [Music] How about get it to the corner? Maker, count it. He had his struggles, Jeff, in that opening game against Kaha, but that will just build his confidence slightly cuz you know he’s going to take a lot tonight. Here’s Jarrett from up high. A lotly now gets rid of it. Somebody’s got to be open. Uh oh, Romero gets it. Baker check, but then Boyce comes over. That’s great work from Bossi getting those offensive boards in the back court and Maker with the jam two-handed. Oh, Chakalagaka. Seen this quite often though with Brexit’s defense. Sometimes the paint is left unprotected. All right, DJ Nugville, Mr. MVP, put it up and in. [Applause] Here’s Ivon going up against the Ajima. Backs his way down. Then the help comes Edwards and 3sec violation on Ivon Almeida. Jeff, that’s tough. That is tough indeed because you know it’s a first it’s a reach by Hajima but he’s got arms around the back of him. So let’s have a look. Oh no this is the little wraparound from the two-handed jam. And got to be spot here. He already has one foul. You can see how Ma not quite happy with that decision but he’s got to play through this now. DJ gives it to the corner. That was short. Oh, has it knocked away by DJ Noodle Jarrett in the leg right after the turnover? Lav’s got to take care of the basketball. This is clumsy turnover after the next one. [Music] Bad rush gets in and is fouled. So free throws coming for the Libya international. It’s nice penetration coming off the screen by Bad Rush, but he’s not really going anywhere. It’s a question I said before the game, Jeff. You’ve got to decide who is your primary ball handler. Wasi Almeido or Badrish times he just becomes a a change in every possession takes the handle gets inside this time. Great job Jarrett might be a better match up against him down low. Pass up ahead and there is the B. Oh. Oh boy. That’s a bad off the bench. She’s got to get a little bit warm. get into the game, but you cannot be missing that one. That rush punishes four-point swingley goes back up 11 to 10. Interested coach. Jo Car now elected to go with a smaller lineup having taken Gavin Edwards out of the game. Jarrett down low. Jacqui has it. Pulls up high arcing three and Maker with the rebound. And now he’s missed a layup that probably he should have made. Here he is again. He’s not going to miss this one. That’s more like it for Hunt. I read the defense very well. They anticipated the kick outs in the corner. But Jeff, I’m still intrigued. It’s a smaller lineup here for Brex. Much bigger for Laughly. They’ve got to go inside the paints. [Music] Ivan made a bounce pass knocked out of bounds that’ll stay at this end. But this is a very even game and I’m really interested to see as changes are made. Marcos Knight what type of impact he’s going to have because he brings a different dimension. But look at this Hikawa missed the first layup but not the second. Timeout on the court. And when we say timeout, that means it’s time to go down to the bench to listen to the coach. [Music] backside. [Applause] [Applause] Okay. [Applause] Okay, Gavin Edwards is going to come back into the game [Music] as is uh Takuchi. What’s interesting about Takuchi, Jeff, go back to 2019 when his brother Joi was playing Balak Tokyo. They won what was then known as the FIA Asia Champions Cup. today BCL Asia cuz back then the winner didn’t go to the FE ICC. So because he’s made he’s got something over his brother here in the family. Oh, Romero going up and preventing that. Oh, here he is. Tough as nails. Marcus Knight into the game. Gives it to Maker. Yes. And you better not allow this team to get second chances cuz they will punish you. And now he’s made two, Jeff. No, he cannot allow him to get another wide open look from the three-point line. Takima misses that one. It goes off the hands of Takuchi. Those are the shots Takushima would take, but he just needs to get his legs under a shot if he’s going to dribble into a 3-0. [Applause] And Bad throws it out of bounds. Both teams losing in their first game to Uni Malaga. Jeff, that’s in a great position for Bad Rush, but he’s jumping in the air and there’s only one player in the history of the international game that used to be able to do that. You know very well, Theo Papal Lucas. He did used to uh run that Greek national team offense. He’d jump like three feet in the air and find a pass somehow. Never found a player to this day that was able to do that. Oh, nice drive from Gavin Edwards to come to life. A little bit of a shaky start to the game. That’s the benefit when a center can make a three-point. You make the defense commit. Speaking of big fellas, how about Maker? That’s number three now. [Music] in the game. His pass knocked out of bounds by Knight with 3.6 seconds remaining. And this is what we said at the beginning, Jay. You want to see a little bit more from Ikaruga. Give him a ball screen. make him do something so they can make the defense collapse. Otherwise, the offense, it’s way too static. Edwards. Oh, is that a pass or a shot? [Applause] [Music] Baker catches, turns. Now the pass run right into the hands of Edwards has it and the ball knocked away by Padra. That’s only the second T foul against Salafi but kind of feel Brets may not want to push the tempo too quickly. Remember that a lot of players like Newville Kima coming back in crotcher they’re going to play extensive minutes so you’ve got to play to your own tempo. Mood Abdalah Benhaj into the game. Another Mud International played at the upper basket [Music] to Endo for three. That was a line drive three. Just off balance. [Music] We’re missing that. You’d rather have him shooting Rose outside rather than getting inside. He just can’t give up the offensive rebound. That’s what you don’t want cuz if he’s near the rim, it’s going down. Well, he did the right thing by forcing him to shoot from the free throw line. But Jeff, it’s not just the bigs that have got to keep the players off the offensive boards. gets it down low before the shot. Look at this pick roll old school basketball. I think Yima K can probably afford to sag down and drop them because in that case Ivana made it. That’s another gamble cuz you leave him wide open from the perimeter. But they’ve got to defend the ball screen much better. [Applause] Yeah. Ja. Jeff Rex yet without an offensive rebound so far. left over MM [Music] basketball. 44.3 seconds to go. Well, they could take that gamble because they want to double. Ivan made it quickly to try to get the ball out of his hands, but they could take that gamble with Mmood if he’s going to be the three-point shoot up. Loses it cheaply. Marcus Nice going to go in for the layup and the lead is seven. [Applause] [Music] I think Ziko Corono might get a technical if he’s any more. You can understand his frustration for sure, but you’re right, Jeff. You got to keep it cool at this point. You’re right in there. Was he arguing that his player got fouled on that? I believe so, but it’s a tough one. J missing. Knight has it. And that is it. Knight elects not to push it quickly. So fourth quarter in the books is 21 to 14. A lot takes taking that early advantage on good sonia bricks. And Jeff, you can just clearly see when Brex don’t have DJ New on the floor. It then becomes a question, who do you go to and score? And you can see Brex right now two for nine from the three-pointer, but we expect them to be a volume three-point shooting team. Neither team getting to the free throw line far, but the one stat that comes out, Brex don’t have an offensive rebound yet, Jeff. [Music] [Applause] Here’s back with the fourth quarter highlights and Romero just uh giving us a little bit of that Puerto Rican spice. [Music] Here is a little wraparound pass to Maker who’s had a great start to the game. But one area of course I mean you’ve had three three-pointers from Maker but 9 second chance points have gone in favor of Lai because that is a huge difference if you look at it being a seven-point lead in favor of the BL champions. But as I said, when Nub’s not on the floor, this team’s got to figure out a way who they want to go to and what mismatches they want to identify. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] The maker with 11 points, leading all scores. [Music] Gavin Edwards got five to lead his team. Makers is doing damage everywhere. So the big fellas are the ones that are giving them a hard time. [Music] They got they’ve got the great start that they need a lot. But can they press on that advantage or will be Rex come get themselves right back in it? I’d like to just keep seeing high pick and roll every time with Ismell Romero is on the floor cuz Dao is going to come into the lineup, but we’ve already seen some very solid perimeter shooting from Maker. So again, I would imagine everything is going to be that same scenario. High picking roll with Dao trying to split spread as much as possible. And if you see Maker on the perimeter, Jeff, you got to get it to him. He’s on fire at the moment. [Applause] Well, again, no DJ Newville on the floor at the moment for Bryce. Trying to give him a little bit of extra time. Maybe maybe he’s not feeling well. Who knows? Maybe he’s tired. Edward’s missing it from a long way out. It was nice. He really was excellent, I thought, against Malaga. That was this man Ala handing it off. Beautiful play and they are just wreaking havoc with Dalo the latest to score. The lead is nine. Jarrett and with the rebound is back defense. They’ve got to take some responsibility here. Good job getting the hands off Iaruga [Music] Edwards and Indo in the same spot and another miss. Two of 13 from point R. Got to keep him in front of him. Trying to make him work. Don’t allow him to get into the paints. That is a tough player to guard. Maker again for three. He check now quickly outlet and the waits. Decides not to attack. Gets it inside. Waiting for the pick. Oh, Edwards very patient. Again, they just trying to go for a simple ball screen scenario. Finding Edwards and all it takes is a little pop making. Indeed, this is the first trip for Brax to the free throw line. In fact, Jeff, this is the will be the first free throws of the evening for these two teams. [Applause] And the way they’re struggling right now, Brook Zo Cornell’s team is making free throws has nothing to do with genetics. He’s got to put some of these away. And he does. Well, you’d assume a guy that goes and plays at University of Connecticut probably would have no problem hitting down his free throws. But interesting story about Grant Ed uh Gavin Edwards, excuse me, because we know he was a naturalized player at the Olympics in 2021. Actually played for Paris in Athens, Jeff. Just not when Sputas was the coach. All right. Yeah. Making it to the final of the basketball champions league couple years ago. Nice handles tonight. Elevation follows it up and makes the shot. And talk about offensive rebounds and some long faces wearing yellow jerseys in the stands as Grex really struggling tonight. Edwards again loses possession. Another tough time. Almeida takes it deep and then Edwards reaches knocks it out of his hands but not able to control it. Jeff, that last field goal by Knight indeed. That’s 11se second chance points and six offensive rebounds. Rexs at the moment, Jeff, they’ve got to be more physical. They are just getting bullied inside their own paints. [Music] [Applause] [Music] We can’t be a team that says the number one important thing we need to fix is our rebounding. We can’t [Music] [Applause] zone on the top DJ. 11. I don’t know. Next possession. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] needs to get a little bit more intensity out of this team, especially crashing the boards and maybe defending. I mean, they they’ve come up with a few steals, but it has been a tough ask so far for Rex just 15 points 12 minutes and 13 seconds into this game. Well, they brought DJ New back in the game again. As I mentioned, everything for them starts and predicates with him on the offensive end. They’re going into a two-3 zone now, so we’ll see how this works out. Jino Alter back in Knight for three. Pass Bill back to Edwards. Get MCO going. Here’s Newville. You know it. He can shoot it, he can drive, he can pass, he can do it all. Another man who played in the B cell in Europe 201617, Vidario Georgia stands [Music] [Applause] night. Oh boy, he is quality. Jeff Alavia are dominating this game from that back court. Whether it’s Knight, Almeida, Bosi, they’re just getting into the paint way too easy. Brex defense has got to take some responsibility. [Music] So here is Knight. Another good game savvy signing acquisition for Aley. Seven points for him. Three assists. Two rebounds in seven minutes. That is what I call productive. He’s not even talking about his defense. Felt pretty tenacious at this end. And Romeo gets down as a three-point shooter. Boy with the offensive re or the rebound elects to hold it up. He’s not one of their primary three-point shooters, but stage someone’s got to make a big play for them. A 5second violation. Wow. See that often? No, not at all. If ever. Well, he knows it. He acknowledges it. But [Music] [Applause] I wonder if Eladani is going to go. [Music] Eladani is arguing that a dribble was taken by Ismael Romero, but That’s seven turnovers now for Laughly. They have a 10-point lead, though. New Bill for three. Got it. I’ll just give it to DJ. Still, I’ve never seen a defense that’s ever adapt to him. You know, he likes to take tough shots. You’ve got to get in his face. Had that gone in. You would really wonder about Brexit’s chances, but he misses now. Chance for DJ to spin some more discs. Oh, nice pass to end. Oh, he passes back outside. A wide open three. Yes, Kakashima. Oh, Dani doesn’t want this lead to disappear. Quickly decides to call timeout with 538 remaining in the second quarter. And well, no surprise that Brexit’s forces change with the introduction of DJ Newville. But it’s hard to see look at he get off the court and join the huddle. His coach is talking with your man. Don’t cheat. Follow follow him. We have three three-pointers from our mistake. First one, we don’t chase him. Mahmud tried to cheat. Where they try to put extra effort or overhead, we we don’t need that. Perform extra pass. Please follow the rules. Now the point guard, he’s the key player. Let the ball out of his hands and be aggressive. He hit two threes in a row offensively. [Applause] We will play this film. You are the point guard. Marcus, you are here when we have to screen four reverses. Marco Romero and pin down for Marcus. [Music] [Applause] Well, you heard us. They’re going to try to get the ball out of Newil’s hands when he’s got it because when he’s had it, he is the conductor of the orchestra. This is fantastic play for Brex. I thought maybe Endo gave up too soon on the layup, but passed it back outside to Takoshima and he nailed it. Jeff, this is Brex though. Miguel Horses quarterfinals, Chiba Jets semi-finals, and then Ruku Golden Kings at the at the Yokohama Arena. They are a three-point volume shooting team. That’s how they beat teams with the hold. No, he steps out of bounds rather. Oley just need a little bit of calm now. Oh, getting slaughtered by Romero and he’s going to take it all the way and he misses incredibly. And now quickly outlet over to DJ Nubo puts up another three. You know it’s coming. You know it’s coming. They won the BCL Asia semifinals in the final in same shot. You know that’s what he wants to take. Make him give the ball up. That’s exactly what the coach said. You got to get it out of his hands. He’s not on the three-point line, though. He’s He’s a good meter behind it. He’s still making it. And there is the catch. New has not single-handedly, but almost single-handedly brought him back. Now, the travel gives the basketball back to Bricks. So, new life for the team from Japan. They were going nowhere fast until this man right here came back into the game. That’s game one against Chiba Jets in the Tojiki Nikon Arena. That’s DJ doing DJ things. You got to understand what this man does. He’ll take a three-point on any part of the basketball court. It’s interesting. Ivon made back into the game. So, it could be that he will be the man charged with stopping uh TJ. They got Bassie on him now. Yeah, Bassie’s got the energy, the emotion, but guess not. Now, his face got him. This is what you want to do. Make him give it up. Oh, that’s good defense. Knocks it away. Here comes Almeida. Maker Jarrett, you would not want to give that away. He’s fouled by Maker. So, I got no problem with that shot though. That’s a mid-range shot for him. You want to go for it, but again, I just want to see a little bit more calm, collected play. If I’m an athlete right now, put the ball in the hands of Almea and make him the primary facilitator. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Here’s [Applause] [Music] New Bill again. Just leans in and scores. He’s just taking the game over. Look at that. He’s pushing back in front. He’s got 13 points. Well, you can see they’re struggling to defend it. But Jeff, I may even just consider say a double team when he’s got it. May he can just give it up cuz if he’s not going to shoot a three, you can see already he’s drawing fouls against Bossi and in that case showing no fear against Ismell Romero. [Music] 24 points per game in BCL Asia. Here’s Edwards. Chases down the rebound. Endo open. And the rebound by Kima. Then the lob inside. Edwards gets in. Is fouled. Oh, the P on the catch. Well, they didn’t have a single offensive rebound in the first quarter. They just got two huge loose balls in that one. Jeff, what’s happened? And one. Edwards going to the free throw line. [Music] That’s a clear foul. Cardani arguing, but look, watch this again. [Music] Get on with the right the right arm. That’s clear as daylight. [Applause] [Music] Wow, what a change this game has had. And it all stems from the reintroduction of TJ Newville. Greg’s leading. It’s 3128. So we’ll go down to the lottery bench. 130 run 28 3128. We are not playing basketball. We have two times we can attack the transmission and we stop the flow and we’re taking difficult shots. Attack our weapon posting up and drive. You lose focus. You get back to shoot difficult shots. Offensively number 25 is killing us. Please in isolation against 25. If you are between the shot and drive, invite him to drive. Then we can but don’t give him that shot. He’s a great player with a very high percentage offensively. [Applause] Well, the coach the coach said it all. Number 25 is killing us. They got to get to grips with DJ Newil. Well, like I said, you can see they’re trying to trap him in some areas, make him give it up. And I think one thing that would help them if they keep doing that, no one else apart from the likes of Gavin Edwards is being an offensive threat. Grant Jared has struggled. Nobody’s making three-pointers. And like I said, what Eladani said, excuse me, you’ve got to make DJ give the ball up. Edwards. I mean, Jeff, the journey of this team, they have one superstar player, the MVP of the B- League, and a group of players that play their roles to perfection. They took down Yuki Tagashi, Utah Watsanabi, and Christo Smith in the semifinals and dominated in games one and three. [Applause] Now, can they get something going? A lotly [Applause] Almeida, beautiful play. Why not put the ball in his hands more often? I think he’s been sitting too long. He’s back in the game. Yeah, I agree. Let the offense start with him. Just like he does with New Bill on this thing. [Applause] [Music] Here’s New Bill. Gets it to the corner. Takshima that’s short that time hits off the side of the backboard with Maker getting out the guard. That’s two good defensive plays by Almeida. Wasi having switched against New Bill. Almeida’s got the length and size to defend New Bill. Oh, Almeida almost was gets it back and throws a lob and he’s fouled. That foul should be on the ground. Yep. That’s a silly gamble by Takashima because then it leaves three Brex players exposed. I think that’s a lucky break if you ask me. Takes a seat. [Music] [Applause] Let’s see. He’s been relatively quiet tonight. This man hasn’t. Maker. It’s been a while since he scored though. And the foul called, so he gets free throws. And that’s good. They get a ball reversal from a kick out. Then they find Maker. And you know, all sometimes you got to do is find those gaps, get in the paint. And Jeff with his length, you bound to get at least a foul and get to the free throw line. [Music] So why goes back out and Knight comes back in. Let’s see if this changes the fortunes and might Knight be the man that guards Newville can tie it. So I just think Almeid is a better option. As mentioned, Uville usually has the better day against guys at his size or smaller. Almeida, what’s he 6’4, 6’5, has a good reach on him, and that’s what you want is somebody to get a hand up whenever he goes for a 3.0. [Music] You can see Almeida draws an offensive foul against Gavin Edwards. Well, chance for Alley to [Music] back in front. Well, Edwards now has three fouls, so I can’t imagine we’re going to see him until the third quarter. That’s a huge blow there for the Brex behind the back. I can see trying to make his life miserable, but he’s got to be careful. You don’t want to pick up another foul here. That’s got to be enough. And another good move by Almeida. I thought they were going to call an offensive one against Almeida, but they called one on the ground on Granera because Jeff Almeida definitely had an elbow up. It’s on New My apologies. Yeah. And that’s a good call. You can see the reach. Yeah. Yeah. He’s already got his uh got him on the arm. So, here’s Alvan Ma. something else. Romero has gone pretty quiet just for him to pick it up again. It’s one of two. So, a lot go back in front and Romero is going to sit down. Now, Alley going much smaller. So you’re going to have Ivanome as the natural power forward maker at the five. Rex two natural centers out there with both Grant Jared and Takuchi. Here’s Jarrett. That’s all here. Fouled by bad rush. Bad foul. I was about to say that is a bad rush foul. It is awful. That was a bad joke by me as well. Well, but you see there I mean Al’s got the position. Why it’s a bad foul? He just sent him to the free throw line. Unnecessary. A bad rush foul. Bad foul by Bad Rush. Indeed. Is that what you were saying? Was that the joke? We’re both fathers, aren’t we? Both dad jokes. Yeah, dad jokes is those are the best. We’ve got an excuse. We’re dads. He makes both also looking for his way into the game. He’s got five points now. There’s Knight. Oh, look at Knight fading and gets it to go. He is tough. It’s good defense. It’s better offense by Knight. Nine points for Knight. Oh, lost it and ends up turning it over. Oh, nice pass back to Ala, but he misses the dunk. But Maker is there for the for the rebound. I think that’s a try. No, they couldn’t jump. Let’s go back to Lley. But Jeff, I’m pretty sure that looked like he took a few steps. Well, one referee initially called travel in front of the Brex bench, but the referee closer to the action called a jump ball. Well, Brex will get the first possession in the second half. [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Music] to the corner now. Almeida pump fake steps inside the arc. Oh, and Fukushima almost let that rebound get away. Don’t want to foul here. Don’t send him to the free throw line. Couple seconds taken off the gawk in the first half. 3534 a lot. And they call a foul with 4.4 seconds remaining. Jeff, I love Ivan Almeida’s game. This man will give you anything you ask him on the floor, offense, defense, but knowing how great a player he is, whether it’s for Cabo Verde, Andov Vatavik, Benfica, you name it. Creel stars, that is a foul he should not be giving away. And he knows that too well. [Applause] He definitely gets his uh verbiage in after he commits the foul. So, he’s never aggressive though. Even when he disagrees with you, he’s very polite. He’s like, he’s a very elegant elegant gentleman. I’ll tell you that. You’re saying he’s an elegant complainer? Indeed, he is. Here’s me, Bill. be the nicer guy than him. You don’t think I’m nice? Okay, second. Second nicer. 4.4 seconds. 4.4 seconds. Plenty of Well, not enough time to get up. Plenty of time. No, but enough time definitely. And same for Brex. You don’t want to foul here either. You have a one-point lead. Take that advantage into halftime. Bill goes out of the game puffing a puff and here’s Marcus Knight. He gets it up and almost. Well, another exciting game at the FIA Intercontinental Cup. A tight one. It’s 3635 Brexed over Alatley from Libya. Well, the game game definitely changed when DJ Nub re-entered play. You can see just went on a spur of just scoring. Look at those stats right there, Jeff. Four crucial three-pointers in the second quarter for the Brex, but the rebound count, no surprise to see going in that athletes favor, but 10 rebounds too many for the BL champions. They’ve got to take care of the basketball. Maker with 13, New also with nine points. This could go down to the wire. [Music] I have the best of you know [Music] [Applause] [Applause] Sorry about that. [Applause] Okay, I think we got some interview. DJ Nubial, man of the first half. 154 and three, quick hands. You guys un very unselfish, doing everything, passing the ball around the perimeter. Good job first half. What’s your key? Um, just moving the ball. They got a lot of length. Um, they’re athletic, so we’re just trying to move the ball, get open shots, keep them in rotations. Very unselfish. You look like they were pretty frustrated at times because your hands were so quick getting in the lane, cutting off the passing lanes. Uh yeah, you know, just rotating on defense, playing hard, and trying to make the extra effort. Okay, DJ, good luck for the second half. Thank you. Well, DJ Newville, no doubt uh the hero of the first half for this Brex team and and really Josh, the game changed completely when he came back into the game. It was looking bleak until DJ Newville came back and then once he came back, it was like night and day for Antonio Briggs. I mean, he comes back, Jeff, and he leads by example. this you you saw that in his days at Osaka Vessa that the only problem I’ve become worried for Brexites there’s only so much he can keep riding until someone else needs to step in and give him some assistance in the BCL Asia final in Dubai it was Makoto Hiima who had over 30 points I’m not sure quite now who is going to be that secondary play or primary player alongside alongside New Or you would think that Grant Jarrett the way he played the other night would be or maybe hea player of his ilk or perhaps even Gavin Edwards I They’ve got they’ve got the players. They’ve got the options. Uh but so far nobody has. It’s halftime and it’s Utson Bricks leading it 3635 over Ali. [Applause] [Applause] with a little bit of musical very young. Can we get a round of applause? Oh, good. Can we give a round of applause, please? All right. It’s a beautiful show. I’m going to take you down. DJ, we ready in 3 2 1. Let’s go. Let’s do a quick. All right. All right. We keep going. DJ [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] down. [Applause] Hey Another [Music] [Applause] [Music] one is [Music] 34. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Okay, we got one. All right, one last try to go for music. [Music] Come on. Oh, I can’t wait to 3 2 1 [Music] Hey hey [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] I think he got it. [Music] Congratulations. Ladies and gentlemen, recreation wheel. [Applause] trust. [Music] together. [Music] Thank you for us every day. [Music] [Music] [Music] Hello. [Music] Nice job. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] Absolutely. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] on the press for 2025. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Thank you. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] Coach, you’re dominating on the boards and in the paint. Just a few more turnovers or less turnovers and you’ll be you’d be ahead right now. What’s your plan next uh next half? This what I was talking with the players in the locker room. Turnovers are hitting us turnovers. So, we have to take take care of our ball if we’re doing fine in the turnover in the third and fourth quart because against such a great team with a great shooters, we can’t throw the ball like this. So, hopefully in the next half we’re doing good in turnovers. Yeah, they’re getting their hands in the passing lanes real really well. Uh how do you how do you sort of defend against that? Yeah, they put some pressure end of the second quarter. Hopefully, we can now beat and let us play five against 44 because they’re doing a great pressuring full court in last couple of minutes. So, if we beat this pressure, we can play five against four and find the open man. Thanks, coach. Good luck. Thank you. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] 3635 US on top of Alati Libya at halftime and the team that wins this game will battle for third place here at the FIA Intercontinental Cup. first time for these teams to be here. So, as high as they can finish, you know, it Josh, the it’s already a huge accomplishment for these clubs just to make it this far. And then you want to make the most of it while you’re here. And it really feels like this year uh there was even more competitive competitiveness, more I don’t know, hunger from these clubs. They showed up, more clubs showed up ready to give it their best shot this year. And also Jeff, you got to take into consideration the BCL Asia and the BL. The BL’s respectfully been dominated by the teams from Egypt, whether it’s Alafi or the case of it. Well, BCL Asia very dominant from Ariotti last season and that’s been changed. The story has been rewritten by, you know, the number one team from Libya and the number one team from the B- League in Japan. So, as you said, competition is getting much higher. Of [Applause] course, you don’t always have the same players that that get you this far. And that’s from Bre standpoint, they do have pretty much the same team. Yeah. So, they have an advantage in continuity. [Music] And you look at you look at the likes of Alley, they’ve signed several new players, but I think they probably really strengthen strengthened their roster. I mean they signed pretty much a fever afro basket dream team. They’re very good as well. But even when you sign new players, you make a very good point there, Jeff. You got to build chemistry. Even coach Alcadani only just joining this team only just shortly before coming here to Singapore. So it’s not ideal. But end of the day, you got to bring your best. You got to compete and we saw that against Udi. But they’ve got to be able to finish the job here in the second half against Usam Brex. I mean to me to me the fact that G- League United have won their group to advance to face to face Uni is a real testament to how competitive it is because they beat good uh flamingo teams and uh a flamingo team as well as a good ilawar team and so yeah so all round I would say there’s no whipping boys in this tournament so to speak. You don’t want to finish with the wooden spoon ever. Oh for sure. I mean seasons are very long as well. So you think about it Brexy Man of these players well some of them at least did play for Japan in the FIFA Asia Cup or at least were in training camp I should say better off but probably of all the tournaments theirs was the most recent in BCL Asia. So not a lot of time from their final game in Dubai to coming here in Singapore and honestly the team that plays for third place here I I think that the the opponents are going to be equally tough for these two teams in their next game. So you may as well play for third place. Second half underway with the basketball. You can see he was pretty tired as he walked off the court and did that interview before halftime right right at the start of halftime. Here’s Jarrett. Oh dribbling for Jarrett trying to free some space up. Good help side defense from Ala forcing a turnover. Pat Rush does not take a bad shot that time. He knocks it in. He’s had some good looks that just haven’t dropped. Question is, can he build on this and keep on delivering? [Music] Pressure back on Brett. Takashima knocks it down. And now this is exchanging threes early on here in the third quarter. I think as you look at Knight getting inside, missing. Good job, Ame, at getting the rebound. Maker. Here’s Knight. Yes, the three. I really like how he plays and you got to really respect Almeida as well. He’s just helping you in so many different ways out there. Short. Well, they gave up two offensive rebounds. An uncontested three. Brooks’s defense showing some vulnerabilities. [Applause] Oh, height drifts in. Nobody boxes out Romero. So, I just wonder if Ziko Carell might want to tell those plays. Any shot goes up. Everybody’s got to crash the paint. We find somebody to box out. Here’s Takashima again. And this is not moving in a positive direction for Brex and all the momentum right now with the team from Africa cuz no Gavin Edwards. Remember he’s got 3,000. Don’t want to put him out yet. Trying to keep on Takuchi as much as possible. Knight just finds his way in. This is his world. We’re just living in it. Yeah, we’re just living in it. [Music] There you go. He has to get points. I mean, just from a stop the bleeding standpoint, let him have a touch. But either he or grand jar, somebody has got to deliver more here in the second half. He just cannot be old DJ Newa. Oh, has it knocked away? That was good hands by Jared. That was very well timed. Nice pass. get it on run off the three-point line. Brings it in. And the and the problem there is they committed the foul. You just got to let him have it. Here’s Almeida. Yeah, he fouled him. I think when Almeida fouled him, he thought he was fouling him before he was getting the shot. A solid move from a guy that has the pedigree. Very tricky player to defend is Makoto Hiima. He was very agile, very, very sneaky when he’s changing direction. Here’s Romero. Had a great start to the game. Now Hiima, he can put his team back in front. Uh-oh. You see these moments where hea really looks to insert really uh exert himself. Here you go. Puts it up and in. DJ nice response by Brex defending him. I’ve always said put Ivan Omega on DJ New. That is a better defensive lineup there for Lati. And Knight banks it in. He’s physical, Jeff. He is tough as nails. He’s tough. Like Raiders hear that song. Watch it. Yeah. Here’s Jar. Good. Good effort there by Takuchi just to keep it alive. And Jeff, I tell you why this passenger play obviously. Look at the replay here from Knight. [Applause] You like that one? I do like it because he almost has it taken away, but he just shows the strength able to go up and score. Jarrett’s going to sit out. Just is not fighting at his level yet, but he needs to. This is another reason why they need Kosuki Takuchi cuz now here in the third quarter you can get a little bit of rest by for both Grant Jared and Gavin Edwards who primarily are going to play most of the minutes in the fourth quarter [Music] is blocked by Boy. Oh relief minutes probably don’t want him to get a three-pointer though. That’s more like it for Maker. [Applause] That’s his fourth three of the night. Everything’s come from downtown for him so far within the rainbow. Oh, Takuchi for a moment there I thought he was going to try to dunk it. Well, he had his dunking years are behind him. He had his struggle, especially 2006 when you were inside Japan at the World Cup, but he had his struggles in Dubai. That’s big for him because it wasn’t until the final Jeff where he made some of those big pick and roll movements. You remember he played for Japan in 2006? Both him and Joji. I did not I I do remember his brother and he playing but I I wasn’t sure that they were there because they weren’t with my group. I was at Kamasu before I got to Sait Thomas. They didn’t make it that far unfortunately. Here is to the corner. Nice. Nice. No look. Oh, ball goes out of bounds. It’s coming towards us. [Music] [Applause] Well, that was good rotation defense by Rexi having to pick up switch wherever they can but tough contestive shot by Jeanjaci [Applause] [Music] Almeida. [Applause] Devon just three points tonight. He does have his eight rebounds and three assists. Man with a hot hand has been Maker. Listen to the Brex Nation. The atmosphere is quite unbelievable, isn’t it? Yeah, it feels like we’re in Japan. [Music] Nice rebuild left open. Why not? Wow. He’s the MVP this game. Certainly the P League MVP as well. And the BCL is your MVP. Well, certainly the Japanese fans hoping that we’re not going to see a Brexit. Oh, don’t say that, please. Don’t break my heart yet. And the foul. Big number 28 going through the line. [Music] Well, he had a lot of time and space to get it off in time. He has been the man tonight as he so often is. DJ Noville. Perfect from three-point range. Three of three. Here is Romero. I think this is a part of his game where he’s improved a lot. I remember doing games with Romero where he had some struggles. Which one? League of Deas America’s pre 2019. No, I’m thinking more like uh qualifiers for the FIA basketball world or for the FIA America. his time. Well, he’s had to as well because as he’s a Jeff, he’s less about cashing out some running, but but how about that? Oh, almost went to it does in the end. He gets three points that trip down the floor and Brexit’s inability to rebound cost him dearly. And here is Oh, Maker with the jam. Jeff, did you see that defensively by a soon as DJ got in transition? Not one, two, three, but four athlete players went to trap to force him to turn it over. That is how much they know how dangerous he is. Well, needing a timeout. Yeah, they swarmed him and the two-handed rim rocker from Maker makes the lead 5551. maker now with 18 points. [Music] [Applause] The god’s going to come out with this group now. [Applause] Remember, if you can’t make the reverse if it’s the night, DJ will be here and treat it like a one song. on his [Applause] [Music] 22 points for DJ. Look at that. 44. So, actually thought it was three of three, but it’s 44 and his team still down 5551. [Applause] Well, he hasn’t missed a shot. Nice pass and now Jarrett found by Maker. I told him the second T pass. Not too much concern for Lafly. not sending it to the free throw line. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Newfield needs somebody else to step up. We’ve been saying it all game long. Who can that person be? Is it him? The Ajima number six drifts in. Nice play. Oh, that’s on the way down. Goend, you can count it. Yep. Absolutely no Ismail. That is a goend. Watch this. The ball and then peak. Yeah, it’s going down. Have to pay for a very expensive basketball lawyer to try and protest any innocence on that one. You can see the Romero acknowledged that it was on the way down out of off screen. [Music] Back to a two-point game. Takuichi the foul on Knight who is just a lot to deal with for these guys. He’s he’s got that you know really strong upper body but he’s got really low center of gravity. So his legs are strong. You know he’s not tall but I think he’s got long arms. He play he can play a lot bigger than he looks. Bad rush. Oh, the lob to Romero. Almost. Good play. Bad rush. That’s number three now in Hajjima. So, question with 309. Do you keep him on the floor? Do you take him out? [Music] There he is. He makes the first. Now, if he does the way he did last time, he’ll miss it and end up giving a rebound and putting it up for three points on this trip down the floor. Alas, he only have Ivan Ome contesting for an offensive rebound. So, we’d be interested if it does become a deja vu moment. Alasa does not. He makes both. It’s 5753. And once again, it’s a lot in the ascendancy. [Music] [Applause] Oh, nice pass. Oh, Taki fouled by Shaki. Wow, he timed that one to perfection. Jeff, I think we heard the smack of the leather on the ball when he blocked that one. I mean, did you hear it? That was all ball for sure, but wow. [Applause] [Music] New steps back. My goodness. He has a miss, has he? Five of five. This guy can live with the pressure. Nice drive. Almeida takes what the defense gives him. [Music] Here’s Swarming that time trying to get another turnover. Cheer it. Can somebody else step up? Yajima. Endo from the right corner. Finally. And that’s what they’ve been missing. That could be a problem now for Laughly. If other players stop making three-pointers, it could be a problem. [Applause] Here it is to Romero and once again fouled. So he will go to the line. This will be his fifth and six free throws in this third quarter. I think Knight fortunate get away with no foul there. I mean to New Bill’s credit, he’s not complaining, but a lot of hand checking. [Applause] Jeff, he hasn’t missed a shot tonight. He’s two for two from the free throw line. He’s eight for eight from the field. Four three-pointers, four inside the rainbow. That is incredible, DJ. Yeah. Now he’s got Now he’s got five threes. Oh, sorry, correction. Five three-pointers. This This feels This has all the hallmarks of a game that’s going down to the final shot. This reminds me of Dubai, the BCL Asia final. The only difference is the arena was packed with Ariati fans. Now it’s packed with Brexation, but similar circumstances, neck and neck between these two teams more to the line. Of course, all those were by Romero. Here’s the Jim. A nice shifty move and Jean Jacqui with the rebound with the foul. Anytime I see somebody defending Makoto Hiaima, whether it’s windows, B- League, I always say give yourself a little bit of space between you and him because what he does is he looks for areas of his body to make contact with you. Either draw a foul or get an advantage. And you see Bosi trying to smother him, chase him. That’s fine, but give yourself a little bit of space. Don’t allow him to make the contact against you. That’s what Hijima does. [Music] Basketball inbounded. Here’s Yajima. Oh, nice pass to Jarrett. Oh, and another rejection this time by Almeida. and Romero hustles down the floor and scores. What a burst of speed and athleticism. They are a frightening prospect when they get into transition. Wow. Ziko Corono getting teed up and that is very surprising because Yeah, he wanted to foul that shot. That’s that’s just a great block. Yeah, look at this. I agree. No, unless he wanted to push before on Jaki. You got to hold your composure right now, Josh. It’s emotional discipline. Sure. I mean, look, we all go through it. I mean, I’d be a hypocrite if I said I don’t have any whatsoever. I mean, you don’t have your moments. I have many moments for sure. But the point is, you got to understand, emotions are flying high and three-point bowl game. No need to get so worked up. Plenty of time still. 127 here in the third. They benefit. Sometimes the ball is very dishonest. We know that Ziko Secret definitely getting pretty emotional applying to this free throw. I mean, I’ve never seen him like this. You’ve covered BS, haven’t you? In the B- League, he’s usually very calm, very cool. Very collected. Yeah, I’ve never seen him like this. Just had to say that cuz that’s what you usually cool, calm, and collected or calm, cool, and collected. Finishing my sentence. I’m glad I got you around, Jeff. Indo. Indo. Endo wants to find himself in that corner. Oh, can you believe it? And I was like, instead it’s uh Hashiawa that’s parking himself in that corner. And then when the pass came to him, he wasn’t there. I don’t know what he was thinking. Hashikawa, you’re in the corner. When Makoto Hijima is going to make that penetration, your defender is going to drag through and try to help. You’re going to be wide open. Why are you cutting baseline? By doing so, you’re making congestion in the paint. And already you can see go now making the change. [Applause] Forawa [Music] is 20th years of age. Doesn’t turn 21 until November 19th. So I guess you forgive him a little bit from an experience standpoint. surprised he’s only 1.94 meters in height. What’s the call? Looks a little bigger than that. I think he’s taller than that. Who is Ala? His pass intercepted by Super DJ. Oh, Brooks go two for one here. If they go quickly, it could finish two offenses. Three-point shot from Hijima. [Applause] [Music] And now his pass. So now we see it at this end. I think they’re going for head coaches challenge you to see to the deflection take place. But a bad same thing that we criticize Hashikawa for. Same thing I could say to him. Just stay in that corner. Knight is going to find you when your defender goes over and traps. Okay, this will be their challenge. And with that, we will listen in to the referees as they head over to review the play. [Music] This is the head to challenge to review the autobound ruling on the floor. It’s a blue ball. Let’s see the video. Show me slowly, please. This is wide, wide, wide, wide, wide, wide, wide, wide, wide, wide, wide. Go wide, wide. Go, go, go. We need to see the space between the ball. Give me this camera, please. This handle. Go back. Go back. And now go front. Wide. Wide. Wide. Wide. Go. Go forward. Wide. Let’s see two of the same. Yeah. Let’s see. Maybe camera three. this um then my camera this one. Let’s go to see this too. So go [Music] white white go white white. I cannot see I cannot see any touch from the blue player. So the decision remain is blue ball sideline 24 18 second.3. Thank you. Well they’re not going to like the result. a lightly. [Music] [Applause] [Music] I can understand why he went for the head coach’s challenge. You could get the final play, lead him by three. But the problem now here for coach Eladani, respect him. He’s a great basketball coach. There’s no argument. You don’t have that left now for the final fourth quarter. It’s always always tempted to save it for as long as possible, but also you want to take it at a critical junction in the game. Here’s New Bill Knight had foul to give. Not a bad foul. Yep. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Well, now you got to defend with discipline. You can’t afford to foul again. Jer gives it back. Puts it up. Oh, and that is the first miss. Oh, first miss. Three-point game. Winner and team will play for the third place here at the Fever. It’s a Consential Cup. And Jeeoff, I’ll say it again. It reminds me of the BCL Asia final. 6259 Alley lead it over in Sonia Bricks. I think we saw a three-point cookout again. Four threes from the Brex of course. Much better from Alathley at the beginning of the third quarter. But you see now both teams getting to the free throw line. Much better Jeff. But the case of Athlete that indeed has been Ismell Romero. [Applause] [Music] some of the highlights. That was the big play after they got the steal the ball from Newville. [Music] But Newville could hardly have played better tonight other than that last miss. He’s pretty much done everything. [Applause] Well, Brex, of course, we know the only player that’s in double figures is DJ Newil. But right now, the only other two players close to getting in double figures are both Gavin Edwards and Makoto Hijima. But as I said, Jeff, if they’re going to win tonight, somebody’s got to be able to contribute a little bit more here for the Brex. It can’t just be DJ. [Music] Likewise with a you need a little bit more. Well, you got to put the ball in the hands of Ival made more if you want to win this game because he is the kind of player that fits a lot of roles for any team he plays for. And if you need him to score, he’ll do that. But I think probably they just need a a primary ball handler facilitator to keep things under control. [Applause] So already today, GLeague United winning over Ilawa Hawks. They will play in the title game against Unikah Malaga. The winner of this game will go up against Flamingo from Brazil in the battle for third place. And the loser will take on Ilawara for fifth place [Applause] on Jaci with the switch and shot goes up and makes the three right in front of the needed that one. [Applause] Redeemer gets it back to Jarrett. Looks good. Nope. Just to the left. The tap there from Takiuchi doesn’t go in. [Music] [Applause] Almeida over for three. Look at Romero. If there’s a ball to be grabbed, it’s going to be by him. Oh, and he goes back up for the put back. I just imagine I think Carell is going to do it. I think we’re going to see Gavin Edwards. Yep. Edwards is going to come back in the lineup probably for Takuchi. Does this look too big and too strong? Takashima. Oh, misses everything and the ball goes out of bounds off Romero. Look at this. Remember, Gavin Edwards does have four fouls. So, if you’re athlete, you want to make him pick up that fifth one. Send him back to the bench. Well, Romero, meanwhile, we’re talking a lot about Newville, but he’s got 18 points and nine rebounds, as does Mr. maker 18 and N. So those guys then you got Marcus Knight with 16 points and that is the three that’s really done the damage [Music] [Applause] with the bucket. Gets it back to six. Still time. That’s his first field goal tonight. Ala fouled. [Applause] Wonder what Ziko Fano is thinking about right now. That’s a good question. They’ve been in this situation many times because one of the games he probably remembers well was on the road against Alvar Tokyo where they led by 10 and of course lost in very poor fashion. But since then they were able to change and get better. But being down coming back in fourth quarters, that’s not something new to Brex. Deficit now eight points facing Brexley was trying to get up to third in that third place game. Remember last last year Malaga winning it over NBA GLeague United in the final. Then it was the Jack Jumpers over Al Riyadi. The African team Petro de Lewanda finishing fifth after their win over Kins from Argentina. Oh, and Jarrett able to save it before it goes out of bounds. Edwards up to it. and he bucked out that will make it a double digit lead. This will be a huge emotional boost now for Lley. Feels like they’re kind of going in for the kill right now. Here’s that high pick and roll. Pass whipped to the corner. Ivon Almeida. Yes. And boy, that felt like a dagger. I think everybody on Brexit that was going to Romero inside the perimeter. Way too wide open. [Applause] [Music] Nice fake. Jarrett gets open. Yes. But to talk about that was almost a must make for them just to kind of stay in this. And now maybe Jarrett starting to wake up a little bit. Really concentrated to make that one. That was huge, Jeff. That was huge. Cutting it down to eight down under seven to go. Indo going to come back into the game. Ivan Mida putting up it up from and he makes another one. He’s been quiet this game. And now Ivon Mida has made backto back three-pointers. He had Jarrett’s hand in his face and still goes in and Ivona blocks him. But the foul called. He thought he had all ball and honestly I did as well. He’s saying all ball. Watch this. Here it is again. Let’s look at it from this end. I mean, he does get him with the body, but does it is I mean, I can only imagine that’s what they called. That’s tough. That’s very tough. You know what they say. The ball is sometimes dishonest. Yep. The ball is truthful. I mean, however you want to interpret it may lie may tell some science fiction. I’m not quite sure, but that’s only his second miss tonight. So, I’m going to trust that the ball is not honest [Applause] [Music] one game. Still only 10 points. So, plenty of time. Just Rex have got to be able to get some stops without giving away any offensive rebounds. [Music] [Applause] Romero turns into Noug traveling violation. Oh, almost traveling there. And bad rush or sorry Mahmood Abdalah Ben Alaj uh doesn’t get off in time. What you don’t want to do if you’re a lightly is uh stop executing and start thinking about the clock. Yeah, you got to keep it together. And that big they’ve had a lot of success has been the high bull streets. Oh, look at that. PC just takes it right away but then not able to control it. And now Porsc reaches in and commits the foul. That is now three fouls. And this is Jean Juas’s game. He likes to get into the face of everybody he defends. But you only have one foul to give now. So you’ve got to play with some intelligence. You’re up by 10. [Applause] Boyc swinging at the ball. Jarrett again and another one. Here we go, Jeff. Here we go. Boy, Jarrett and Almeida relatively quiet from a scoring standpoint until now. the seven-point game for and Jared with the rebound. Full marks to Jared. It looked to me like he was exhausted. Wasn’t going to get anything going tonight. And now the ball goes off of Edward’s hands and out of bounds. I think what DJ Dub was trying to do was find Shinji Takushima in the corner. [Applause] Maker in the game. A cup assignment to Jarretta. [Music] [Applause] Good job, Gavin Edwards. If that’s on Gavin Edwards, that’s number five. He’s done. So now Kasuki Takuchi probably is going to have to come back in the lineup. [Applause] And this is where BS probably hindered without having Isaac Fo not having that third, you know, four stretch five to play. But for 510 down by seven, you’re really going to have to dig deep if you want to play for the third place game tomorrow. [Applause] All right. Gets it in bounds. Kakui is boy missing. Kakuchi knocks it over to Newville. DJ Newville so shifty dribbling the basketball. Hard to makes you dive one way and then he goes the other. Jared again for three. Oh, ultimate respect for number 34. He has really showed up in crunch time for Brex. Remember him when he played for Eco and Boss Skovina in the BCL. He struggled to adapt in Europe, but my goodness, a little bit of time on Mikawa and then of course becoming a bee champion. Every year he’s played for the Brex. They’ve always been top one, top two in the B- League apart from his first season. It’s amazing how a player can turn one team into his domain and that’s what Gran Jar’s done in Japan. But what I’m surprised by is how he’s been able to look like he struggled for three quarters. I mean, physically he and still he looks really like he needs to sit down and catch a breather. He’s just fighting through it right now. But he’s a confidence player. We saw this in the B-League finals against Ruku Golden Kings. He struggled immensely in game three at the beginning. All he needs is to make one, two, three, you know, perimeter shots. That’s it. He’s focused. And then you start to see other areas of his game where he can help hurt you. his rebounding, his pay protection. You know, Jeff, one thing about him is he elevates high when he takes shots inside the paint and he gets a shot up very quickly. Here we go. [Applause] [Music] 440 remaining and thanks to Grant Jared puts on a Brex right in this three crucial threes. It’s that quick release. Soon as he catches it, he’s already set and he’s up in the air and it’s a simple follow through. Not necessarily the most traditional follow through. It’s a bit of a low release, but double double for our man from Puerto Rico. Yeah, he also equally excellent, but in a different way. His damage done inside. [Applause] And now Brex just like our athlete Jeff. Only one foul to give away. It’s number three against Takuchi. [Music] [Applause] Well, not a bad time to bring Mako back in. Oh, that was quickly off the chains. Ivon Almeida gets it to Maker. Maker goes up. Look at the follow from Almeida. He can’t get it, but it’s Romero who does. And then he goes up and then it’s somebody else with the ball knocked over to Hijima. How in the world did Breck survive that onslaught? That was a scramble, Jeff. Complete scramble. [Applause] Here it is. Jared for three. And that time it was off. Pulls up on the break and Jarrett able to beat Romero to the ball, which is no small feat. I’m not sure that was the best shot by Jean Jaci. That was dangerous. Picks it up. Pakuchi over to Newville. Now it’s New Bill’s time to shake and bake. No, he gives it to Jared. Puts it up in the lane. Oh, unlucky. That went around and out. Now just need a bit of cop. Get something good from this bull screen. [Music] Oh, Romero again shows up and the foul call on Jarrett. [Applause] Just so difficult to get rebounds when Romero is on the court. He’s got 11 rebounds. [Music] Time out of the court. Well, they’re going to come back with two free throws, but may just start to feel. Does Brax have enough with 316? You saw two good looks there for Grant Jared. But you look at the rebound count there, Jeff. 20 in favor. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Well, so much at stake here. You want to get into that third place game to get that medal. And wow, look at that. Romero’s up with 13 rebounds now. He is having a very shacklike game today. [Music] [Applause] [Music] And you feel kind of bad for Jared missing that last one because he almost got that one to sink. Soft touch. [Applause] [Music] So here’s Romero. Oh, well, pressure just getting to him. He’s been excellent so far here at the FIA Intercontinental Cup. Got to make your free throws. He heard you. They made the second one. Yeah. So, it’s a five-point lead. Still tied. 3 minutes 10 seconds. [Music] What do Brex want? Do they want to go back to Jared or maybe get something from Hijima? Chov winding down. It’s going to be new Bill. See, Grant Jarrett’s got to make a better effort to contest an offensive board. They switch on the bull screen. Mak is a perfect switch against DJ Newil. [Music] Knight has it knocked away. Excellent effort. Heima two break and he keeps it and goes up and misses with the left hand. It’s a twoon-one and nobody crashing in for a rebound. And this is SM now from Bossi. Slow it down. To be honest, that was the right play by Hijima. He just didn’t make it and nobody else came in for the follow. Oh, rattles out. Unlucky. But look at Romero. Boy, that’s your MVP right there. He has been tenacious. Back to a seven-point advantage. Look at that. 21 points and a beast on the boards. Here’s Jarrett for three and his numbers drying up here at the end. Knight tempted but decides looking over his coach. Let’s take some time off the clock. Have a foul to give. You don’t want to use it now. Time is one in town. Knight a and nobody finds to box him out. He gets an easy put back and now he steals it from Hiima but he throws it away. Heima has it who pulls up makes the three. That is a fivepoint swing and really for the second time tonight, Jeanjac Boyce makes a great play but then throws it away. Oh, if you can see Elcadani infuriated right now with Jean Jaci cuz that three-pointer converted by Miaima Jeff potentially it’s a two possession ball game. Oh B, what a poor foul by to give away. Now you send Bossi to the free throw line. But the only good thing is you stop the clock and you hope that he misses. Ivon made trying to calm down as coach. Well, so far it’s a good foul because he misses the free throw. Didn’t miss many of the afro basket, but they’ll take what they get. Hard to make this point in the game. Takes his time. does make the second chain [Applause] for he is a ball. Look at that. Hadn’t he made that, it would have been a potential three-point play. Well, this is good though with 58.7. Stops the clock. Stops the clock. Cut it down in two possessions. Yep. If your bricks got to make them both, though. He’s missed one tonight. Really out of your screen. You can’t see it, but Omega is telling his teammate just to calm down a little because he was drawing at the coach who was getting on his case about taking the early jump shot. You can understand both sides. I mean, look, you got a great coach who, you know, in his mind, he gets very passionate, he gets very fiery. You got a great player and Jean Jui, same thing. He plays with his heart on his sleeve. But the both need to realize 58.7. We’re still potentially leading by five if DJ makes his free throw. And back to a five-point game. It felt like this thing should have been over in all honesty. And it might just be his night goes up. They break the press. [Applause] They elected to put pressure. tried to trap but end up giving away. Jarrett long way out short. Oh, and look at that. Unbelievable. The ball fumbled away and Brex get a bucket. Heima very opportunistic as usual. And with 37.5 seconds left, the inbound the basketball. Maker has it knocked out of his hands. Then he’s fouled. Now Maker will get free throws. Tough one there. They got the trap, but just feel that. Not sure if it was Takiuchi or Grant Jared. If one of them was aware that the ball became loose, that’s a steal quick and converted two points to the Brex. So Ziko wants to call timeout and talk this over. [Applause] [Music] see what they can do. So, they want to set up something here in case he misses free throws. Get down and get a quick bucket. Also, he gives his guys a chance to sit down and catch their breath. [Music] Two, one. So that is the game recap. You can see two timeouts left for a lot and both teams over the limit in terms of fouls and Brett still has a challenge. You never know that could come into play. [Applause] Well, everything’s got to be well the case of Alafi, you just got to make the free throws to close the game out. But if you’re Brex, if he makes both of these or if he misses both, makes one, whatever, you got to go quick. You can’t waste any time. And I just feel for DJ, he’s played such extensive minutes, the fatigue has got to be settling in now. [Music] So here’s Maker. Two free throws and that’s the first and he’s been a huge relevation today. Jeeoff, you can see the double double, but the perime of the shooting from him from the very beginning is kind of what set the tone for Ali. He sees both chaching. Got to go quick. Oh, here’s New and Alley is closing in on victory. Here goes and another bucket and it’s going to be disappointment for Gregs who’ve given everything here at the end and really were up against it. I think you got to give them credit. They really competed, but ultimately maybe just some of the physicality, the ability of Romero to get on the boards as well as Zoni, his defense. Knight who was excellent with his physicality as well. Omega was terrific and a lot win it 8778 over Sunre. They will battle for third place. [Music] A tough game of course. I mean the absence of Isaac Fols who did leave it a little bit thin. But the foul trouble to Gavin Edwards more than anything I felt held hurt them Jeff. But the rebounding look at that 50 to 25. Very dominant from Alati. The end of the day Jeff they held on. They were much more clinical. [Applause] Look at that celebrations. Big moment. [Applause] [Music] First ever win for Alatley at the female Intercontinental Cup. And the way they’re celebrating just shows you how important that is for this team. Coach hugs all the way around. That means they will take on Flamingo in the battle for third place. And meanwhile, Brex will go up against Ilawa in the battle for fifth. That’ll be a very exciting game as well. But you know, big congratulations to the for winning. And it’s always great to see the champions of the basketball Africa League come here and really, you know, display their brand of exciting basketball. And Jeff, go back to the game against Cara. They competed. They were in there up until the fourth quarter. And you can understand the way they were kind of able to impose themselves from a physicality standpoint why they were able to stay with Unikah Malaga for as long as they did. So, I think we’re going to go down to the court now and uh listen to Ismile Romero is our colleague Chuck ask some tough questions. Ishmael Romero, 21 points, 15 rebounds. More importantly, you guys have a chance to make it to the mental round tomorrow. How you feel now? I’m so happy. The here was so nice. Great game. They compete a lot. We compete a lot with was for us was like 50-50 game. So we give you everything for the for the for the win. We got it. So we so happy right now. So yeah, it was a very very tough opposition. Japan gave you all you can handle. What was going through your mind when the league kept going back and forth back and forth especially in that third quarter? It’s hard for because this team is new team. We only practice like about like 12 day. So they know everybody with us. It’s so difficult, but we we make the the the adjustment and we win the game. So you’re getting ready to play for a medal tomorrow. What does this do for African basketball in general? Here you are at the Continental Cup, Intercontinental Cup 2025 and Africa is finally on the map. For them is so amazing, right? You know, it’s the first time in the top position. We’re so happy. It’s time to to rest and be here tomorrow for for fighting. third, fourth place game. It sure look good on you to have a bronze medal to take home with you to Libya. For sure, 100%. Thank you everybody. Thank you. [Applause] night for Alatley and for Romero. Great. You can see I thought he handled himself very well in that post game answering the questions and understanding the significance of the moment which we all saw by the celebrations on the court after the game. Well, it was a an exciting game to say the least. And you know what? Congratulations Alahe. The champions of the basketball after league. The BAL of course came here, they delivered, they fought hard and very welld deserved indeed. And you know, Brex without some of their well, one of their key players, I should say, and a little bit of foul trouble. You know, they hung in there. They almost came back, but somebody just needed to be that extra score alongside DJ New. Well, they did get, you know, in the end, uh, they got some extra extra offense from Jarrett. I don’t think he could have done much more in that comeback to keep him in it. But yeah, they still needed somebody else and ultimately uh that tenacious physical defense I think and maybe uh rebounding kind of took its toll. Nudeville, I’m not sure he can do much more. You can’t play as well as he did in the first half, the first 25 minutes for 40 minutes. So great night for this team and the celebrations show it. So Unaha finished first. Allightly finished second and Brex finished third in group A. And Brex, they definitely worked hard tonight. They tried to do what they could for all their fans, but just wasn’t enough as Ali beat him 87 to 78. And that ends it on day three of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup. Thank you for watching everybody. Thank you. Goodbye. [Applause] [Music] going against 401 United. [Music] Ladies and gentlemen, we have one more [Music]
