The start is just moments away! [ Oju Chosan Trivia ]
After they started taking off the ear covers immediately before the race, his reaction improved. Number 15, Le Pere Noel, is now moving slowly to the 15th gate. Entry is complete. The race has begun! A relatively level break for all, and now they make their way to the first obstacle, located between the third and fourth turns. The leaders are still racing in a wide line. The first obstacle… a step… and juuuump! Coming from the inside, number 3 Suzuka Presto has emerged. On the outside is number 10 Yuki Viva Wonder, and even wider is number 14 Crans Montana. On the inside course, it’s number 6, Up to Date. Tucking his white coat into the main group, he has now moved up into the second position. He has switched to the outer path and now chases the leaders. At the front, it’s number 3 Suzuka Presto and number 6 Up to Date, with the two of them racing alongside each other. Up to Date has seized the initiative! In front of the grandstand, the water jump… and juuuump! A splash of water went up… but he’s okay! Up to Date is in the lead, the lead is 4 lengths.
The second obstacle… a step… and juuuump! In second place is Suzuka Presto.
In third place is Crans Montana. Following them, Oju Chosan is in fourth position on the outside. It’s 8 lengths to the leader, Up to Date. On this inside course, Yuki Viva Wonder.
Over the jump between the 1st and 2nd corners… a step… and juuuump! Miyaji Taiga is at the front of the midfield group.
And from the outside is Meiner Fiesta. On the inside is T.M. Opera Don.
This part of the field is bunched up. And then it’s Sanrei Duke.
After him are Thinking Dancer and Biko Pililani. It’s Le Pere Noel, and behind him at the rear are Samurai Fountain and Win Yard. In last place, slightly detached, is Classic Mark. Descending and then ascending the valley in the second turn. Up to Date is clear of the pack, taking the lead as declared. On the backstretch, just one horse.
He now goes down the slope that leads to the great steeplechase course. The horse in second is Suzuka Presto. Following that is Crans Montana in third, and also Oju Chosan. The chasing pack consists of three horses. Three lengths behind is Miyaji Taiga.
After that are Meiner Fiesta and T.M. Opera Don. The first of the “Great Obstacles”… it has a height of 1.60 meters and a width of 2.05 meters… The bamboo fence obstacle… and juuuump! First, Up to Date makes the jump.
And moving up into second place is Oju Chosan. He tripped slightly, but he’s fine! With all horses, including the back-markers, having cleared the obstacle safely, a round of applause wells up from the crowd at Nakayama Racecourse. Now changing their path, from the area of the 4th corner to the 3rd.
And now they will be turning left. At the front, Up to Date is now pulling away from the rest of the field. And the horse in second is… a detached Oju Chosan.
The front has gotten further away. The jump between the 3rd and 4th corners… and juuuump! Behind Oju Chosan is Suzuka Presto. And it’s number 14, Crans Montana. And a little behind them, slightly detached, is Miyaji Taiga.
On the inside course, number 13 Meiner Fiesta. Two lengths behind is number 5, T.M. Opera Don. Another two lengths behind is number 8, Sanrei Duke.
Two lengths behind him is number 4, Thinking Dancer. Three lengths behind is number 15, Le Pere Noel. And then, gapped from the rest, number 2 Biko Pililani and others are following. Coming onto the backstretch, and then immediately this time, they take a path to the left. Again, descending and ascending the sloped path that leads to the great steeplechase course is the front-runner, Up to Date. In second place is Oju Chosan.
After him is Crans Montana. The one who is trying to close the gap on the inside is number 3, Suzuka Presto. Alright, they’re on to the great steeplechase course! The second one, this time it’s the great hedge obstacle. The leader, Up to Date… and he juuuumps! In second place, now juuumping!
It’s Oju Chosan! And now Crans Montana, Miyaji Taiga.
All horses are safely finishing their jumps. All the way to Classic Mark at the rear, every horse has safely completed the jump! The field has become a long procession, and in the meantime, Up to Date has cleared one of the jumps in front of the grandstand. They are now heading towards the jump between the 1st and 2nd corners. In second place, more than 10 lengths behind, is Oju Chosan. The obstacle in the middle of the 1st and 2nd corners. Up to Date… a step… and juuuump! The horse in second, Oju Chosan, is jumping now! Behind them, in third, is Miyaji Taiga. And Meiner Fiesta is also following. The dip in the second corner… Up to Date is the first to go down! And now Oju Chosan, in second place, goes down and then climbs up. From the second corner to the backstretch. Now the leader, Up to Date, is breaking away from the pack with a huge front-running move, to the extent that the entire racecourse is buzzing! The field behind Oju Chosan is also gradually becoming detached. The obstacle on the backstretch. Now, taking a step… and juuuump! The leader is number 6, Up to Date. A long way back in second place is number 7, Oju Chosan. It was a jump that made the whole stadium buzz for a moment, but he’s alright! And behind them, with a small gap, in third place is number 9, Miyaji Taiga. And after him, it’s number 13, Meiner Fiesta. Descending and then ascending the incline at the third turn. The leader is number 6, Up to Date, at the obstacle between the 3rd and 4th corners. And now! Oju Chosan is going to close the gap! Before the 4th corner, it’s the number 5 hedge. A step… and a juuuump! Up to Date, clear! Here he goes!
Oju Chosan is now attempting to close the distance, little by little! The rest are detached; the horses from third position backwards are far behind! They are now heading for the 4th corner! Now, the leader is Up to Date! Coming from behind is Oju Chosan! NOW!! IS IT THE FORMER CHAMPION!?

And still, a streak of that golden journey will shine resplendently in our hearts, enduring through the passage of time— —On the northern lands, in the lush pastures of Yogibo Versailles Resort Farm, a special stallion lives quietly. A son of the graceful Shadow Silhouette and sired by the legendary stallion Stay Gold, the former champion… With a soft, gentle look, so different from his days on the track, he marks the passage of time at his own leisurely pace. Even in retirement, his ‘two-way’ prowess remains intact. Alongside his second career at a tourist farm, he fulfills his role as a stallion, ensuring his lineage continues for generations to come.
